The thorns symbolize our negligence as stewards of God's Creation. We were asked to pin the green pieces of cloth to symbolize our effort to help the world that God has given to us.

This is is the cross. Every piece of red cloth symbolizes the sins that separates us from God. We were asked to nail these to the cross.

We were to embody Simon of Cyrene by writing down prayers and putting them in a jar and then, getting another person's prayer from the jar to pray for their intentions.
